Review summary from DPReview June 2015 The 750D is an evolutionary follow-up to the 700D, adding a higher resolution sensor and improved autofocus, but with no significant changes in physical design. Its image quality is on par with most of its peers and the camera is capable of creating beautiful photos. Read full review on DPReview ( Personal takes Rishi Sanyal DPReview The 750D sees significant upgrades from its predecessor that brings it more in line with its peers. It’s a great first camera for someone wanting to learn photography and tap into Canon’s extensive lens lineup. Those desiring a more worry-free point-and-shoot experience may wish to consider credible mirrorless options, though. Dale Baskin DPReview The Canon 750D may not look that different from previous Rebel models, but it includes a couple of significant upgrades, including a 24 megapixel sensor and a 19-point autofocus system. However, lack of continuous autofocus in live view makes the camera less flexible for shooting moving subjects, such as kids, than its sibling, the 760D. The 750D is a good camera for a beginner who wants to learn photography, and of course it’s compatible with Canon’s large selection of lenses. Reasons to buy Solid sensor: Canon’s new 24MP CMOS sensor produces very good image quality, with resolution and low light performance similar to its peers. Rotating touchscreen LCD: The 750D’s 3″ 1.04 million dot LCD display can flip to the side and rotate 270 degrees, which is great for video recording. The touch features allow for easy focusing and photo review. Wi-Fi with NFC: Sharing photos via your smartphone takes just a ‘tap’. Photos and movies can be tagged for sharing to social media sites right on the camera. Things to consider Fewer AF points with limited frame coverage: Although the 19-point AF system is an upgrade over previous Rebels, total number of points and frame coverage suffer relative to immediate peers. Trouble with movement: Whether shooting with the viewfinder or LCD, the 750D struggles to track moving subjects. No direct access to autofocus point selection: When shooting through the viewfinder, there’s no direct access to AF point selection. You have to first press a dedicated button, then use the dial or 4-way controller. Weak battery: The 750D’s battery life number of 440 shots per charge is nearly half that of its closest DSLR competitor. Notable features New 24MP CMOS sensor The 750D uses an all-new 24MP APS-C CMOS sensor, which has largely closed the resolution and low light performance gap with its competitors. Fully articulating LCD display The 750D’s 3-inch, 1.04 million dot LCD can flip to the side and rotate 270 degrees. It’s also touch-sensitive, so you can tap-to-focus and swipe your way through photos. Wireless flash control The 750D’s onboard flash can be used as a ‘master’ to wirelessly control off-camera flashes, allowing for more creative lighting. Numerous shooting modes The 750D offers a host of creative shooting modes as well as full manual exposure controls.
